Dr. Jochen Imig studied Biology at Saarland University, Saarbrücken and performed his Ph.D. work at Saarland University Medical School (Institute of Virology) in collaboration with the University Hospital Zurich, Switzerland (Department of Oncology). He then moved for a Post-Doctoral position to ETH Zurich under the supervision of Profs. Andre P. Gerber and Jonathan Hall, followed by a short intermediate position at University of Basel, guided by Prof. Mihaela Zavolan (Computational & Systems Biology Department). Thereafter, Dr. Imig decided to follow and deepen his research interests in the field of RNA Biology at the New York University School of Medicine (Department of Pathology) at the lab and under the mentorship of Prof. Ioannis Aifantis. During this time, he studied the functional relationships of lncRNAs in melanoma proliferation, progression and drug resistance as well as chromatin 3D-structural changes in melanoma upon drug resistance before moving on to his current position at the CGC III of the Max-Planck Society.
