Peng Wu received the 2020 SCT Award for Young Investigator in Medicinal Chemistry

Peng Wu received the 2020 SCT Award for Young Investigator in Medicinal Chemistry at the  " 28th Young Research Fellows Meeting " (Web Meeting, February 11-12, 2021, Paris), for his research work in the field of medicinal chemistry and chemical biology on the identification and development of small molecules that are potential therapeutic candidates or probe compounds.

The French Medicinal Chemistry Society (“Société de Chimie Thérapeutique”, SCT) is a non-profit organization founded in 1966, whose mission is to promote knowledge in key areas of pharmaceutical research and development. Every year, it provides a prestigious prize to one or two young scientists who are not older than 36 years, in academia and/or in industry, to foster excellence.

Peng’s group is currently focused on the development of small-molecule-based strategies to target RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), structured RNAs, and protein—RNA interactions, especially RBPs that are closely associated with anticancer, anti-inflammatory, and antiviral applications. Platform strategies are being established by utilizing a multidisciplinary approach in Peng’s group, covering areas of chemical biology, medicinal chemistry, organic synthetic chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology and computer-aided drug design.
